A CANNIBAL, A BOND VILLAIN, AND THE JOKER

Three imprisoned villains with an eerily patient gaze
Unending comparisons of THE DARK KNIGHT Oscar winner Heath Ledger's Joker to Javier Bardem's Silva in the new Bond venture SKYFALL... being that he sits with cold-grinning insanity within a cell... are rampant.

So let's take a look at three cinematic jailbirds that (at one point) dressed as a cop or guard: Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS), The Joker and Silva: each with a sinister smiley gaze within "escape-proof" confides....

But this reviewer does realize that Silva, like The Joker, did in fact disguise himself before being locked up. Either way it'd be hard for a current action flick to not borrow from Christopher Nolan: after all, he undeniably set a brand new stage for the edgy modern-day "complicated thriller."
