SAM HUGHES: THE ANTAGONIST OF 'THE GRATEFUL DEAD MOVIE'

Uptight Royalties-seeking fan SAM HUGHES from THE GRATEFUL DEAD MOVIE in 1975

One of the best scenes in THE GRATEFUL DEAD MOVIE has two fans arguing... over something that began with an uptight fan not wanting the cameras in the concert, being as they were, of course, filming a movie...

And his name is Sam Hughes, who wants royalties if this moment winds up in the movie (and it did), and he makes a bet with a far more open-minded and affable fan, John Williams, whether Sam winds up paying to see the movie in theaters. Wondered who won that bet? And by the way, the reason for the horrible-looking photo gradient is this scene was shot in the dark with a very grainy camera...
