SUSAN GEORGE IN 'TINTORERA: KILLER SHARK' W/ JENNIFER ASHLEY

Title: TINTORERA: KILLER SHARK Year: 1977 Rating: **1/2

If the sexually-driven/dream-vacationing ménage à trois of SUMMER LOVERS were a 1970's JAWS-clone then you'd have the extremely bizarre Mexican exploitation TINTORERA: KILLER SHARK where, in familiar form, one character complains that the beaches should have been closed...

But by that time it's almost over, before which two Mexican playboys... one a vulnerable blond millionaire with a yacht and the other a shallow dark-haired womanizing shark hunter... have two consecutive affairs with two different sexy British babes played by Fiona Lewis and Susan George respectively; and the first vanishes, mysteriously to the boys, but the audience had seen her eaten by not only a shark (Chrissie Watkins anyone?) but THE shark...

Andrés García and Jennifer Ashley in TINTORERA: KILLER SHARK

A gigantic titular tiger that the hunting duo (the rich guy being mentored) are never ever able to get to, far more powerful than the other easily slain prey that... via beautifully-shot underwater stock footage complimented by the equally gorgeous Cancún beach resort... sporadically connect to the popular shark-creature-feature...

But most of TINTOREA is the triangle between handsome rich Hugo Stiglitz and poor handsomer Andrés García with an existential Susan George when not in random trysts with American tourists Jennifer Ashley and Laura Lyons (later followed by Priscilla Barnes); and the entire shark element seems either a necessary distraction for the risque sexsploitation mainline or Freudian irony of the title sea predator hunting the shark-hunting beach-girl predators.
