Stacey Nelkin is a cult actress known as the ingénue from HALLOWEEN 3, the pretty starlet in YELLOWBEARD, and last and certainly least, Tony Danza’s girlfriend in GOING APE… But for some earlier Nelkin cinema you’ll have to downsize to the small screen…

In the TV movie, CHILDREN OF DIVORCE, Stacey plays Andrea Hoffman, one of several young folks with bickering parents on the verge of, or already taking an active part in, breaking up their marriage...
This includes, among a laundry list of recognizable faces, GET SMART star Barbara Feldon who, playing Andrea’s upper class mother now having to find a menial job, has the most interesting storyline. It's the wife, not the children, with the biggest character arc throughout. Although Andrea’s transition has a few layers: from a bullied snob at a new public high school to a popular wannabe making marijuana references in class, she eventually hooks up with classical guitar protégé Tony, played by Lance Kerwin (David Soul’s young sidekick in SALEM’S LOT a year earlier). Tony's mom, Stella Stevens, has the smallest and least important role as a beauty shop owner struggling to make split-ends meet…
As a young couple, the boy-next-door Kerwin and the gorgeous brunette Nelkin are a mismatched pair in a subplot that could have been better had more attention been given. Instead they're peripheral compared to other kids including pre-FACTS OF LIFE Kim Fields as an Olympic hopeful stealing dad Billy Dee Williams' booze, and her friendship with Andrea’s overweight little brother...

Sounds like a ton of familiar names meshed within a soap operatic template, and it is, sure, but CHILDREN OF DIVORCE... also featuring grownup PARTRIDGE FAMILY actress Suzanne Crough, a cheerleader giving a heartfelt monologue, and edgy newcomer Traci Rae as Andrea's group therapy friends... is a surprisingly decent movie – imagine if THE LOVE BOAT got serious and mated with an AFTERSCHOOL SPECIAL… This would be its firstborn.
This underrated gem, written and directed by producer John Carpenter's collaborator Tommy Lee Wallace, has been maligned for two reasons: It has nothing to do with Michael Myers, the mask-wearing "shape" of the John Carpenter franchise... And it's much more of a sci-fi/thriller than a horror movie.

Plot centers on a doctor, played by dependable Tom Atkins, teaming with beautiful Stacey Nelkin whose father, the owner of a magic shop, is murdered by a man in a black suit.

Signed by Tom Atkins RATES: ****

Atkins and Nelkin wind up in a small town ruled by the mysterious head of a novelty corporation specializing in three simple but spooky Halloween masks: a witch, a pumpkin, and a skull... and because of magic shops, they're open all year round but are still waiting for that titular night to shine: Turns out these masks have powers: After a commercial plays a really creepy/catchy jingle, the children are promised to win a prize...

But this particular trick is no treat, thus resulting in a rather gruesome outcome, while much of the film concerns our snoopy heroes investigating the town after dark, and then the factory itself holds the coolest scenes, replete with mind-bending antique curios even creepier than the antagonists: all created by or purchased by – or working for – head honcho Dan O’Herlihy, who delivers charmingly sinister monologues throughout. And right when you think it’s over, there are a few more twists around the bend.
year: 1981
cast: Tony Danza, Danny DeVito
rating: *

Not only is this an awful movie, it's sluggish and uncomfortable...
Attempting to ride the Simian coattails of the popular Clint Eastwood ANY WHICH WAY flicks, we have pointless bachelor Tony Danza inheriting three orangutans from his deceased father, a once great, highly successful circus performer.

If Tony keeps the frolicking, troublesome trio in his apartment for over a year, he gets a million dollars. Meanwhile, thugs want him to fail, and attempt killing the apes.

Too much running around takes away from the orangutans, providing a few basic tricks and facial expressions but are merely background to the lame thug antics and a plethora of uninteresting and unfunny side-characters including fellow TAXI star Danny DeVito as "Lazlo," helping Danza maintain along with Stacey Nelkin as Danza's flustered girlfriend and her uptight mother, Jessica Walter, who, along with everyone else, must have lost a bet to appear in this turkey.
