Before playing a vampire's killer moll in the Satan's coven investigatory horror DEVILS OF DARKNESS, and a leading character's rich and resilient girlfriend in the science-fiction creature-feature ISLAND OF TERROR, Carole Gray was the bad of two gorgeous women in Roger Moore's British series THE SAINT...

Her character not only danced in DARKNESS (having been a professional dancer way back in THE PRINCESS AND THE SHOWGIRL), but she channeled Valerie Gaunt's lead vamp-girl from Hammer's DRACULA...

Barbara Shelley in THE SAINT: THE COVETOUS HEADSMAN

Ironically, the good girl here's played by Hammer (and overall horror and crime ingenue) Barbara Shelley, who Moore's Simon Templar helps figure out who killed her long-lost brother...

And with a crooked and sneaky, lounge-singing girlfriend like Carole Gray, and woodwork-goons around every corner... along with stolen antiques connected to the Nazis... it's all a tad complicated: but Season 2's THE COVETOUS HEADSMAN makes for terrific viewing for those lovely scream-queens alone.
