| Marguerite Churchill and Robert Sterling in BUNCO SQUAD Year: 1950 Rating: ***1/2 |
Sophisticated beauty Marguerite Churchill was an ingenue in the 1930's, classing up horror movies DRACULA'S DAUGHTER and THE WALKING DEAD... the latter featuring suave-villain actor Ricardo Cortez, who, in BUNCO SQUAD, cons the older yet still quite lovely Marguerite to get to her heiress boss: the primary long con despite SQUAD starting out with one of those documentary style narrations...
Starring handsome Robert Sterling partnered with square-jawed Douglas Fowley and in love with lovely actress Joan Dixon, a Gene Tierney lookalike that winds up undercover to bust what's an intriguing, uncomplicated seance scam that includes backstabbing deaths centered around new age spiritualism, before it was the media's personally-protected religion.
