When Hammer displays their logo before THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2, it’s got a particular aura reminiscent of, say, Marvel or something: Imagine flashing images of Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price bringing us back to the great old days of implied, sophisticated horror... Much of the story, taking place at a fog-shrouded mansion during the height of World War II, sets up a genuinely ominous atmosphere but the characters get lost in brooding melancholy.
In a time when darkness was the law in England... protection from German bomber planes... just about anything is possible: Yet with a few sudden jolts aside, left alone with two frightened ladies, a handful of children and a vulnerable pilot, the formidable wraith we paid to see, given an important promotion as ANGEL OF DEATH, isn't doing her job very well... in fact she's hardly around at all!
OVERALL RANK: Jedi, Rebel, Droid, Sith.
