Years before
NANCY CARTWRIGHT voiced one of the most famous cartoon characters ever, BART SIMPSON, she was eaten by a cartoon in
TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE in Joe Dante's version of the episode where an evil boy "sends people away."

Staying on THE SIMPSONS topic: Perhaps it's a coincidence that Donald Sutherland's not-so-smart
character in THE DAY OF THE LOCUST is named Homer Simpson. But in this
quote by THE SIMPSONS creator Matt Groening, it's obvious he's aware of
the film enough to reference it. "And I wanted to be a writer. I went to
a series of meetings with low-level executives and agents, all of which
were a waste of time, very much like an unfunny version of The Day of
the Locust."
